EcoMel is an innovative sulphite-free product, formulated to prevent melanosis in prawns and other crustaceans. Ideal for in situ treatment of crustaceans after they have been caught either on board or on land. It deactivates the PPO enzyme responsible for the development of melanosis in crustaceans once they are caught.
Similarly, EcoMel Frost acts against the problem of melanosis in shellfish destined for freezing.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE LIQUID ECOMEL
BioMarine Laboratories recommend the use of EcoMel and EcoMel Frost in its liquid version for all types of crustaceans, as indicated below:

Prepare a 3% solution of EcoMel in cold water (<5°C), preferably seawater.
Introduce the previously washed crustaceans, making sure they are covered by the solution. Optionally, add 2% of salt and homogenize the mixture. Respect the 2:1 ratio (2 L solution: 1 Kg of crustaceans).
The necessary time of immersion will be of 10 minutes.
The same solution can be used 4 to 6 times. For example, with a 1,000 L bath, up to 3,000 Kg of crustaceans can be treated in batches of 500 kg to 750 Kg.
*The use level of the mixture for the foods indicated on the label respects the maximum limits and, used under these conditions, complies with the provisions of Regulation 1333/2008.
